I know normally it is better to post each coin separately but this pertains to the same subject for each, so kept it to one post. Each coin is in order of obverse and reverse in pictures. Anyway, these are some of the coins I have found and believe to be woodies. My question is if I am correct, and what exactly makes a "woodie" valuable to someone who collects them? Thank you. Been wanting to ask this for awhile, but I try not to blow up the site. Thank you!!!

Yes, they're woodies--nice ones at that.

They are woodies, and what makes them worth more than face value is the eye appeal to certain collectors.

Ok , a question for Coop ; How come on the 1917 there's no wood grain showing on top half of Lincolns head ?

Welcome and those are really great looking woodies. Metal alloying errors are pretty complex scientifically speaking and each is unique.

T-Bop - laminations and woodies are related, and on the 1917 you can see the starting of a lamination from the "D" to the "US". It maybe just wasn't as unmixed as the rest of the metal at that location.
