Hey, I'm a great fan of blazing luster, but I'd think 64 would be small gift here.

Textbook 63 , a few too many marks in the focal points obverse . Blazing lustre and a pleasing look for one of these .

I would say at least 63 probably 64... I offer to you (or anyone) thinking about submitting Morgan or Peace dollars. The VAMworld admin "messydesk" (John) who runs VSS (Variety Slabbing Service) offers a bulk submission rate and will attribute (if you want) your coin(s). Here's a link to his current open submission... http://www.vamworld.com/forum/viewt...p?f=3&t=6167I have used his service before and currently have 30 more going out in his next submission. Something to consider...? Here's a link to his submission form http://varslab.com/vssub.pdfsmat

Shocked to see this. Can anyone add comments as to why? Expected a straight MS64 or MS65 not UNC details cleaned. Bizarre.

Looks like full chart wheel luster on this one. Surprised it came beck cleaned. Guess they saw something we can't see in these photos.

Yeah but I'm unsure how they think it's been cleaned. If it had been polished then I would have noticed. If I could be bothered I'd be tempted to crack and resubmit but in all likeliness it'll just come back the same. It's a shame, but if its accurate its accurate, they're the experts afterall.

Take the coin under light and tilt it back and forth and look for hairlines in the fields that change direction when viewing. These type of wipe hairlines sometimes can not be picked up from photo. If you do not see the hairlines changing directions crack it out and resubmit. If you see the hairlines that is most likely why the coin was graded details. A lot of time the wipe hairlines will be graded market acceptable.

I would have opined MS-64, problem-free. I just got several coins back from PCGS and they flagged some as cleaned that I was sure were original. Maybe NGC is also getting super strict, throwing out "cleaned" judgments for coins with near-imaginary impairment.
IMO the value of the 1923 Peace doesn't justify the grading fee, unless it has a good shot at 65 or better. I wouldn't resubmit this one.

So sorry to hear the coin got "Cleaned". I bet the Price is Right losing horn played in your head when you got the coin back.

Think 64 due to the small scratches I see on her face.

Getting the cleaned designation doesn't mean the entire coin has been cleaned. It could be a tiny spot that has been scrubbed with a pencil eraser. Maybe that small dark spot between the 1 and 9 in the date?
