Looks like it was colored in with a sharpie marker and then polished off. As a damaged coin value is five cents.

I could go with a plating job. Certainly can't rule out polishing either. Poor application of eye shadow or enhanced eyebrows. Perhaps someone was experimenting with coin jewelry making techniques.

It really stands out in pocket change that's for sure. Lol It didn't look real to me. I thought maybe it was a sorry try at plating. Could've been for jewelry purposes. Guess we will never know. My son loves it so into the piggy bank it goes!

Sure looks like it was polished to me. All the harm was done to this one, so why not finish the job and get it cleaned off and show us?

I wonder if this was a coin with severe environmental damage that someone found with a metal detector and then cleaned up with a proprietory metal cleaner so they could spend it. I've done the same with British cupro-nickel coins.
