I don't think this is a feeder problem.

Die gouge.
1992-D-Lincoln-Memorial--Gouge?
Looks like this die event started in the center and went towards the edge. (Widest areas indicate to me this happened that way) Tapers off as the blow weakens.

I was thinking it to be a gouge.
Starts from rim runs (under) S of STATES runs down on the field to the memorial building but its on the face of the building.
So the gouge went down in the design of the building also?

I'd say that this is a very nice die gouge. right across the surface of the die. The area in the building is deep on the coin - meaning very shallow on the die, a high point probably at or very near the same elevation as the field, which is why you can see it there.

How deep are the dies polished. Well enought metal removed can affect the devices as some are very deep into the die, while parts of the bust is not as deep as other parts.

Note how the deepest areas are not affected, while shallow devices are gone with the wind. Polished to oblivion.
