So the obverse looks well worn and the back look amazing. The obverse with dramatic Die Deterioration on the date, mint mark bottom of bust, top letters spreading out and liberty all doubling.

Looks more like a harshly cleaned, maybe reprocessed coin.

Harsh cleaning is what I see--not a reprocessing. As an aside, there doesn't appear to be any evidence that indicates the US Mint performed any 'reprocesssing' of '43 steel cents. The cleaning was most likely attempted by a coin collector or casual coin fancier, not the mint.

SO you are saying a coin collector cleaning was able to cause this doubling? the doubling of the "S" the date, the bottom of the bust? even the liberty is doubled out to ward the rim. LIBERT

No, my comments above were only focused on the reprocessing aspect, and evidence of cleaning.

Until now, I didn't address the date and mint mark component, which does appear to be caused by Die Deterioration, in my opinion anyway. I have a tube full of '43 S mint cents with that form of doubling.

The "doubling"looks like a worn die issue, not a doubled die.

thanks! Exactly what I stated in the beginning. Die Deterioration causing the doubling.

I'll go along with all of the above - including the DDD the op originally had asked. I might add that there is a bit of corrosion just above the date.
