Varies from collector to collector, this one does not catch my eye, IMHO. John1

You'd look rode hard and put up wet at 103 too I'd imagine, unless you haven't circulated from your home, more than once or twice!! I can't imagine what I'd look like if my age was more than doubled!!

This guy has done more than his job out in the world and needs you to conserve him now. Very nice, well worn and traveled woody. You can see the matching directions from the obverse to the reverse, just imagine you were looking through the coin, instead of flipping it. The reverse does not show as well.

this is a 1919 cent not a 1917, but it is a very worn down coin. it could be a woody with most of the details worn off. But not seeing any woody characteristics on the reverse.

Quote: But not seeing any woody characteristics on the reverse Notice the pic above and the lines just above the directional line I made, you can see it, just does not show as well as the obverse. I have seen them where you could only make it out on one side too, just like lams, for the same reason, some just don't run as deep. Same cause to, by the way. LINK http://goccf.com/t/417443

Very nice observation for the directions of the line by MAKE. For me this it is a coin who have to make face to erosion from one direction. I have this on my small turbine on the cooper plaques for water directions. Here the effect is done by the incused traces only. IMO.

Agree that it's a woody that has seen so much wear that much of the wood grain has been obscured. But being a woody isn't black or white. It's a bit like asking how much toning is needed before a coin is labeled "toned."
