Not an error, just damage.
Put your cent on top of a regular one and see the difference
in diameter caused by the dryer.

few responses say this is a Dryer Coin, of PMD. I have acquired Dryer Coins in all denomination. this coin is possible a capped die, if I put under a scope you will see layers of copper not dryer smooth edges. it is not deformed, put it next to other cent no difference . we here to learn . the teacher gets taught , go both directions.

That would have to be struck through 2 capped dies. Dryer Coin or rock tumbler.

I'm leaning toward a dryer coin--perhaps trapped in the interior workings of a laundromat dryer. The diameter (worn down rim) is a good indicator, along with reduced surface details. A teller I frequent works at a bank branch which serves a couple local laundromats. The teller has shown me similar (and worse) examples received from laundromat managers/owners in deposits they bring in.

i could understand Dryer Coin but the rim is not rounded like traditional Dryer Coin and if you look at 11:00 to 7:00 o'clock notice the spread there. if it were Dryer Coin it would most likely be the same all around.

SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE exposure which has (Hypochlorous acid, sodium salt). Popular say is bleach used in washing machines for majority. the coin been in contact with has this characteristics. So the effect of the dryer how is say and the contact with others activants (like the detergent or softeners) will solute some alloy metal.
