In surfing ebay for world coins from my birth year (1976), I came up with an issue.

I like proof and mint sets. They're pretty.

However, there seem to be a variety of hucksters creating their own "mint sets" out of circulated coinage, some of which are reasonably convincing until you hold them in hand.

Is there any sort of reference for world official mint sets? Are they covered in Krause?

Happy weekend,

Russian mintset for 1976 can be considerably expensive - I have been looking for one but often can't get one in a reasonable price. The 1976 20 kopek is a key date and that alone goes for 60usd. Figures.

Thanks! I actually don't know how many coins there are for '76, I'm just kicking the idea around at this point... Guess it's time to pick up my old Krause from my folk's house.

I've seen the Russian sets on the bay, I did notice they were pricier than I would have expected :(

Doesn't seem to matter what year you choose to collect, or what series, there is nearly always one or two that break the bank!
