We have a very large bill, worn well. I cannot find much reference for it. Thanks!

Is there anything specific you want to know about a series 1923 $1 Silver Certificate, or are you only concerned about your particular note ?

By far the most common large size note printed by the US government. It dates from the mid-1920s and is worth perhaps $20 or so in this soiled condition. Often referred to as a "horse blanket". to the CCF!

Well thank you so much. I did read the term horse blanket but didn't know what it was referring to. Thank you again.

The reference, of course, was that the note was large enough to be used under a horse's saddle.

I'll just add that the 1923 series is the last of the large size notes. The 1928 series notes were the beginning of the small sized notes that are still standard today.

Nice note Mr. Frog I don't collect the large size notes, just the small ones for me, but I do have these two a 1923 SC and an 1899 SC not in the best of shape, but my father carried them with him for years and during WWII so he would always have a couple of bucks. That makes them priceless to me

This was the first large size note I ever purchased. This series is so abundant, it's not unusual for it to be the most affordable choice for new collectors getting into the hobby and wanting a large size note. It's available in virtually every imaginable condition from a rag to as perfect as the day it was printed, almost 100 years ago. Mr.Frog's note is wonderful.

This forum is, beyond question, the best source of information on almost any numismatic subject.

When dealing with this note, keep an eye out for FR239. The sigs will be Woods Tate. Much more value than fr238 or fr237
