A couple of years ago I came to this forum for advice on what to do with a gold certificate my grandmother had given me years ago that someone used to pay for their groceries at the store where she worked as a cashier. I realized I never followed up with all of you or thanked you for your advice.

Score for her and that's a wonderful heirloom to receive. Glad you got it protected and I hope you keep it in the family for many generations to come!

Thank you SteveInTampa, it was your recommendation to get the stains removed and get it graded.

The last basically similar one to cross the block at Heritage was a PCGS VF-35PPQ at $15,600 in October of 2021.

I always wondered how it ended up in the grocery store roughly 30 years ago. Could you imagine if that was part of your collection and someone in your family took it to buy groceries? My grandma had no idea of the value but saw that it looked different and set aside for me.

Quote: I always wondered how it ended up in the grocery store roughly 30 years ago Like back in the Nineties? I was thinking the '40's, or the '50's. Yes, that does make you wonder.
