I was looking through my '80s proofs and found this. My photo is just to depict the Cud mark on Lincoln's temple. I know it's not a great photo. It's still in the proof case, so the scratches are on the plastic cover and not the coin.

Is it anything rare?

Die chips happen many times. But a Cud is a die the end of life to a die. Die chips are the pot holes to dies. When a pot hole happens on the street, there is a void. A die chip breaks off the die, leave a void. The rest of that dies life that void will be filled as a raised area where ever is is on a die. Even a Cud will fill the void as much as it can with the metal from the planchet. What happens when it runs out of metal, there will be no design where it stops.

Note on this Cud. Not design appears on the void area. The opposite side of the coin has not metal or resistance of pressure on that area to form the devices where should be there, because of the Cud on the opposite side of the coin.
