Post-mint damage of some sort, probably deliberate.

Probably making a coin for the soda machine to get a 10 cent soda for one cent. That's what it looks like to me.

this coin was sanded down and also shaped, notice it is not round anymore. It appears the have 12 'flat' sides, a Dodecagon at this point.

Very, very worn and damaged. As Yoda would say... "Lincoln one cent 1958 very worn. Yes, hmmm."

This is funny. Curious as to how this worked? Would one just buff the edges down to the size of a dime and voila a one cent pop?

Ya back then the machines weren't that smart. Just grind it down close enough to a dime size , that way diameter and weight were close enough to go through.
