David Bowers mentions / warns of this yellow, brown,red perrifrial toning and also to avoid the bruise blue applied staining/darkening as anthesis of original low-mid grade Barber Halfs.The 1894 S was certainly cleaned decades ago as it textbook mirrors his description.The 1896 S appears original so away they go to ANACS tomorrow. For only placing a tie 19/74 the 1896 S imo is available mostly overgraded and extremely weak reverse. What happened to full rims rule? The guy held firm to $100.00 on it and insisted its grade G-6 I say G-4? Side deal was if it comes back G-4 I get 20 bucks back. Nuinances everywhere in this series,seeing these in PCGS VG10 F-12 slabs purposely stained with only LI very very partial BER half a T and full Y. Has the supply dwindled so low this is another key within about 30 keys? Or am I rediscovering the wheel? IMO Barber quarters don't offer these aggravations! jimbucks Pillar of the Community United States 4691 Posts	Posted 02/25/2022 9:24 pm The 1894 may have too much PMD to be gradable, but the 1896 is G-6 or perhaps even VG-8. luvmyCAM Pillar of the Community United States 1479 Posts	Posted 02/26/2022 9:30 pm 9 Barber half's went out today to ANACS another 10 are 4 weeks in the grading process, will post their grades when they come in. The 1896 S would be fantastic if it gets straight G-6 very unassuming coin not much character comes out in pic but in hand the color appears original and it has nice honest wear. Looking around for the pricey 1892 O maybe will find a nice VG at the show in Lincoln Nebraska coming up. Already decided will only purchase an example slabbed, at $300-400 bucks saving 80 bucks on a wild raw 92 O might not be prudent. Report this Post to the Staff
