Yes, closer-in, sharp photo of the coin taken outside of the 2x2 would offer us the best look at what may be happening. Thanks.

This is post-strike damage. Some metal was relocated from the rim onto the adjacent field.
Error coin writer and researcher.

I have to disagree. Then there would be metal from the rim missing. That is not the case. Post strike damage is material missing, not added.
