1988 Lincoln Memorial Cent Mint Error - Double Struck Chain Strike

This coin was shown as a double struck chain strike, and I pretty much agree, but honestly could be struck on a planchet with a straight clip. The edge along the straight bit just doesn't look like a clip though, so going with chain strike.

It's easy to distinguish a chain strike from a straight clip. The chain strike will show no metal flow in design elements bordering the clip. It will also feature a contact facet along the edge. Finally, its weight will be normal while a straight clip will be underweight.

Huh, sometimes it is just too obvious to see the solution. The weight! The coin weighs 2.49g so that should nail it as a chain strike. I also do not see any metal flow of the design elements near the "clip" and the edge looks right for chain strike as well. Thanks Mike! Always good to get these things nailed down and I always learn.
