Hi
I have a coin from Russia with one side blank.
I've weighed it at 2.3 grams and measured it at roughly 19 to 20mm.(My scale has been coming up under the actual weight. The weight is supposed to be 2.6994grams and the diameter is supposed to be 19.8mm for 15 kopeks during this time frame. Was this a coin struck using a double planchet? The coin is milled all around the edge and this is shown up to the blank side.(Not sure how to tell the difference between milled and reeded)

Ive narrowed it down to 1906 to 1913 in accordance with #1069;#1041; - Elikum Babayants on the coin, but I haven't seen photos of coins prior to 1901.

Also what is the obverse and reverse for a coin like this?

(Ive edited this post for better pictures and because I originally read the world coin book incorrectly).

Possibly altered to fit in a ring or other piece of jewelry?

I'm pretty sure the error was done during manufacturing. I didn't post a picture but the reeder edge looks fine. Under the scope there's no sharp cut edges either.

It has been altered. PMD
The rim is missing, you can't have a coin struck in collar
with the rim only on one side.

Often this was the first step in preparing a coin to be made into a love token. Now more of an oddity even though the numismatic value is largely destroyed. Thx for posting.

Hi,

Ive edited my original post and photos.
Is anyone able to answer my questions? Heres a couple more pictures for on-lookers with details of the milled edge on both sides of the coin for multiple spots around the rim.

It is sanded down - the parallel lines are a good sign of it.
