Folks, I just bought this one on ebay, and I believe it may squeek by as an F12, but I thought I'd post it here to get some opinions before listing it on my inventory sheet. So, what do y'all think?

The photos are the seller's (hope they show up okay). I figure they will give you a better view of the coin than my scans would. Thanks for looking, and for your opinions.

Ralph

There is some nice detail still left on Liberty dress which should bring the grade up a bit. I'm going to say this would grade F-15.

Also, weak strike was common on this mint mark I believe, and I think some of what might be thought as wear is actually weakly struck areas.

I own this exact date/mint mark and agree that this would probably grade a Fine. My coin has the same look on the reverse (where the "One Dol." is light) and the lightness on the shield on the obverse.

It's a nice coin - the Seated Liberty dollars ain't easy to come by!

I would concur with F15, it has probably been cleaned but doe not appear harshly cleaned, just too white. If you paid around VG money for it, you did good.

Thanks guys - Fine it is.

It's the only one I've been needing to complete my USA Type Set, so I feel pretty good about getting it (nope, no gold page). Love that feeling that comes with getting that last coin to fill that last hole in an album.

Biokemist - I agree that it appears, from the photos, that it has experienced a past cleaning - have to wait until I have it in hand before determining how harshly.

As for cost - $249. and change with free shipping. As I said, I'm happy with it.
