Here is another for grading. I wish I could capture the color correctly, it's a little darker gold than one of the Presidential dollars in hand.

It has a strong WE and full shield lines, I would give it EF45 details. Unfortunately, the golden brassy color and the spots are indicative of a harsh cleaning in the past and the rough surfaces around the banner are probably attributable to that cleaning.

I hope you are wrong this time, but you are probably correct. Maybe it was dipped in a copper cleaner or something. It came from e-bay in a set of obsolete denomination coins. I did show it to a dealer because I wasn't sure what the damage on the right wreath was, and he said thought it was a strike through cloth or something. I also asked about the color, and he thought it was natural. His quote was "sometimes these old coppers tone in strange colors." Maybe I'll give it to ANACS, and see what they say.

I can't tell how much wear is on the coin by those photos, but it appears to be improperly cleaned.

Just so Prethen cannot say he killed another thread...
I agree harshly cleaned in the past. The surfaces tend agree with this opinion even if you have not captured the colour correctly. I would give it an EF40. Its a shame as its a plain five variety which are harder to find in nice condition than the fancy five.
