Picked these three up for about $40 each after tax. They are in NGS slabs saying MS67. I know this is for sure over-graded - I'd put the 44 and 45 at low 63. That 41 though... I could see 65 out of it, maybe 66 in the right light. They all have way more luster than what the pics are showing. What do you think? Did I make out like a bandit, or did I get bamboozled?

Coins 1 and 3 seem to show slight wear - I'd grade them high AU. Coin 2 might make MS-63. Let's see what others have to say.

In agreement with the other 2. 100% not real NGC slabs.

Maybe it's the lighting, but the surfaces don't look original

Nice photos, but none of the coin are showing cart wheel luster. The 41 has a lot of nicks in the lower part of the dress.

The OP said they were in NGS slabs.

TMI time. There were at least two companies that used that name for slabbing. One was awful, but sort of legit. The other was an anonymous basement slabber.

If they are in not so awful plastic holders with a label that has a bunch of numbers below the grade, they are the basement slabber. The basement slabber was one of the many do-it-yourself eBayers from the early days of ebay. (Remember Centsles anyone?) This one sold coins that were described incorrectly, were wildly overgraded, were usually cleaned, sometimes plated, and sometimes counterfeit.

If the slabs are really cheap plastic and can be popped open with a fingernail, and have really amateurish labels from an old color printer, they are the kind of legit fourth-tier company. This one graded a whole bunch of cleaned coins and assigned straight grades to them. They used some buzzword for this, like "balanced grade" or "blended grade" or the like. At least they slabbed genuine coins.

Unfortunately, when my wife and I had our coin business, we saw hundreds of these slabs in shows back east, like Missouri-Illinois-Ohio maybe 15-20 years ago. I'm guessing these slabbers were from somewhere around there.

I agree, if genuine, these are all AU-something and have been cleaned.

Definitely over paid on this one.

Look at all of the pitting on her gown on the first coin, ouch.

The 44 is the best of the three and that's not saying much. (AU, maybe Unc, AU)

I think you came out on the short end of the stick on this deal.

Notice that all three coins have the same obverse anomalies as indicated. Methinks these are marks caused by some form of clamping tool used while doctoring up each coin.

Other opinions?
Rest in Peace
