Hey all, got a weird one here. I'm fairly sure this is PMD but the raised sections on the reverse have me questioning that. I think either the plating wore through and then was exposed to some sort of acid that corroded the zinc, or this was a damaged die coin that was later exposed to some sort of acid. Hard for me to tell, does anyone have a better idea as to what's going on with this one? Thanks!

Looks like just zinc rot to me.
Once the zinc is exposed to air, it will continue to rot away

Wow, that second link is great! I have several blistered cents like that and I found one the other day with that weird shadowing on top of the letters where the clad didn't take. Been here an hour and already learned so much thanks everyone!
