Came across this 1971 Kennedy half dollar and don't see any mention of this G deformation in GOD anywhere. Doesn't look like MD or PMD to me. All opinions are welcome.

A DDO would show the same type of spread on other devices. To see it on just one would probably be just damage to the coin. Note the displacement of the device. (but you are looking at the right area, but not considering the affect a DDO would have on the other devices.

Am I correct in assuming a doubled die can occur in one letter or number, or even in just one portion of the device? And the more significant and visable DD's occur in a broader section of the device? So theoretically this portion of the G could be a DD, TD or QD? But if this is a DD there would be more of them in circulation with the same deformation?
