Yes that is pretty serious toning . There had to be a slight tear or pin hole for the Quarter and Dime . This is a perfect example for E-Z-est dip .Just don't over dip and rinse with distilled water .

I love what I'm seeing. My opinion only, I wouldn't dip them.

A dipped coin is an altered coin. Leave them alone.

I agree. Do not do anything to "fix" them. If you do not like the look, someone else will.

Not sure I especially like them, but wild is the right word!

No dippy from me. I don't like toning that much but there is something I like about these. The red tones (which don't really show in the photos) is really interesting.

Dipping is something I feel like you have to do in secret. Like guys sitting when they pee. Some have strong feelings one way or another and no one will admit to it.

I have run into these before in flat pack proof sets. I ended up selling them separate as problem coins for a discount. I would not dip this type of toning because the toning runs deep in the surface of the coin. You would need a long dip time to remove most of the toning, and that will disrupt the original luster. It comes when there the cellophane plastic breaks open, although I am not sure what causes the toning specifically. Maybe it is the adhesive, maybe it is the open air. The toning on these is so crazy I'd think I was looking at a cupro-nickel quarter and dime without their outer nickel layer. Neat stuff!

Almost looks like the missing clad layer error you sometimes see on post-1964 coins
