Hi everyone,

I am trying to figure out if: (1) this is a die break on the eye area, (2) Improper plating, (3) a double die error on the 1995 D cent. Here are some pictures to accompany. Thank you for the help!

Sincerely,

Xavy

Errors/Varieties/die events are all different items. Not just damaged coins. The term Errors is use vaguely.

@eca, first welcome to CCF. Second, it looks like you are having a little trouble uploading your pics. Here is a link to our tutorial on that subject. I look forward to seeing what you have.

That is a linear plating bubble on the face. On the date that looks like split plating.
Don't really see anything else that would be considered an error.

FYI- The proper terminology is Doubled Die

If you hold your camera lens centered and directly over it helps with photos. Sunlight works wonders.

Seeing gray is not a good sign for a copper plated zinc coin. The strike may have split the plating, or the coin was altered. But the zinc will start to rot and the coin will waste away. So this error/alteration is not a good thing for the coin.

Pics look good now—thx for sticking with it. You have split plate doubling on the date and some other parts of the inscriptions. Interesting to look at, but this coin would be a spender for me b
