This 1989p dime appears to be an uncentered broadstrike but I wanted to be sure. I was questioning myself to if it was a offcenter strike but all the devices are present. Thanks in advance for any replies or correction comments. Coindom76

That appears to be a strike by a Misaligned Obverse Die. (MAD)
The reverse looks properly centered.

Thanks for the response petespocket55. It is actually flattened along the reverse edge too. I can attempt to get better pictures of the reverse to confirm. If it is a misaligned die strike, MAD, the obverse die must have been very misaligned. Thank you again for your response. Coindom76

Is the dime larger than a regular dime? I'm presuming a broad strike would have a larger diameter.

Any hint of reeds would squash the struck out of collar theory. Note the rims are present, but weak. Thus indicating the collar was in place. What does the outside edge of the coin look like?

@Coop,the reeding is intact and in good condition on this dime. So my question is on both sides the rim is affected so what would be the proper terminology be for what this dime is showing? Coindom76

@coop, yes the weight is proper at 2.3 grams. When I compare thickness to another dime it does seem to be abit thinner.

Did some checking on this years design and seeing several to study a bit. Noticed the die wear and the Grease Fill looking almost the same. So your coin is from an aging die with some possible Grease Fill on the LI on Liberty. Circulation wear also altered the devices and rim a some also. So just a fairly normal coin. The circulation flattening on the rims is what were are also seeing. Not seeing a premium on this one though. The MAD is not enough for a premium.

@coop, thank you for doing research and this information. There it is then. I've never seen a rim flattened on both sides from die wear and a Grease Filled Die. Coindom76

Cool coin, I like the appearance of this one. 2x2 worthy? I think so...

@Dearborn, thanks for the response. I agree. There are other issues with this coin. I believe there is a clash involved with this dime as well. Coindom76
