I am new to posting about collecting coins but have collected them for 30 + years due to moving around many times. I have lost every collection to date. Sometimes I give them away too when I see it interests a new hobby for someone.

So I found this Nickel I think it is what they call a Grease Fill error I thought it looked like the Sphinx a bit so I wanted to share and get a opinion or 2.

Well worn but looks like a partially Grease Filled Die.

The moniker seemed to fit.

@Nik10 Struck Through Grease not Grease Fill strike that was the terminology I was rattling around in my hat rack for

Weight?
1. If the weight is normal it looks like a Grease Fill issue.
2. If the weight is under weight, then the coin may be altered or the planchet was under weight. The thinning of the planchet would prevent a full strike.
But guessing it is probably #1.

This one I shared cause of the error it get a nice moniker. Might have no extra value other than curiosity, but it does have a bit of style. As a error goes.
