Quote: I was hoping for the pixel dimensions. You can make a big image have a small file size by increasing the compression. But what is the actual pixel dimension in X and Y? oops, Here is the 'properties box' of that image of the '65 cent:

Quote: It looks like you are not limited in going to high magnification while the extender is in place, correct? So you can keep the extender in place at all times? No, I have to take the extender off to get the extreme close up. I was not aware of the 10" rail extender - I may look into that item to upgrade this scope.

Here is an image of the scope spec page: You are correct about the 16M and 4M:

Well, just searched out the 10" extender, found it on Amazon for $20.00 USD: https://www.amazon.com/TOMLOV-Micro...2C133&sr=8-3I just bought that unit, and when it comes in on Friday, I will be able to focus from the entire coin of and IKE or ASE down to a tiny dime and zoomed in for very close inspection hte the molecular structure of the metal (J/K) but just like the close images up above without changing the tube.

Here are a few photos of the 'business' end of the scope. 1. just the end of the scope with 6 led lights around it (dimmable to bright to off) 2. same view, but the scope comes with a tiny cover to diffuse the light outward and not directly onto the coin. 3. same view again with a UV lens cover over the entire assembly.

As a bonus: the packaging the scope came in acts as a great dust cover too.

A suggestion...wrap some aluminum foil around the diffuser, so that any light that would shine uselessly out of the diffuser will go back onto it. Should make the light a bit brighter.
The dpi rating of the scope doesn't help much. Who knows what the reference is?
Also, the image output resolution of 16M and 4M don't help much either. It seems the company is being tight-lipped about the native resolution of the sensor. 99% probably it is not 16MP. It is probably 4MP, with the 16MP output being upconverted.

I got my focus rail from Amazon today. I just ordered it Wed PM !! They must have had them in a local warehouse. Anyway, now I need to figure out what to do with it. Quality seems good, though the focus is not all that fine, and is a little rough. But what to expect for $20, right?

I had shot off an Email to Tomlov as the where I get the 10" focus rail, then I found it on Amazon (before I got any reply from my email) the next day, Tomlov directed me to the same Amazon address to get it. so I think that it is the one they prefer us to buy/use. You sure got yours fast, I'm still waiting on mine to be delivered today. Gott to be a geographic issue. When it comes in and I get a chance to use it, I'll report back how it operates with my new scope

Perhaps an advantage to living in the SF Bay Area. Gotta get those advantages when I can.

This scope looks pretty darn good. I haven't found the manufacture of the imaging CMOS Sensor I do know it's a back illuminated and the 16M is an interpolated up scaling from the 2688x1512 4M size. There are quite a few generic microscopes using this sensor (or at least the same size), I'm pretty sure the pixels are 2 micron squared. Seems like it's quality is really good, Tomlov is a Chinese based company (from the country code on their phone #, though they sound more like a Russian or Ukraine company from the name. I'm pretty sure this is a Panasonic sensor inside. They sure spent some time getting a good software engine written it seems, that is a big difference over a lot of other scopes that may have the same sensor in them.

Well the 10" extension is in and installed. No problems with focus from 1cm (very zoomed in) to 9 inches away for a great full image of Eisenhower coin without changing anything out. Now, That being said, I wanted to take it one step further and install the 4" extension tube that came with the scope and I can move up to get the new US Navy 2.5oz Medal (Diameter: 2.000 inches) in full coin vies and in focus too:

I love my advantages here in the Arizona desert - no earthquakes or FOG rolling in over the Golden Gate and the mountains in Marin County. Quote: This scope looks pretty darn good. Thanks Westcoin - I really like this one a massive upgrade from my old one. I still have a lot to learn on it though (and get a better lighting setup (still)).

Quality seems good, though the focus is not all that fine, and is a little rough. I think I would prefer to call this item a zoom rail vs a focus rail. Basically the rail lets you get in close or far away (a rough focus, if you will) I then turn the lens assembly for fine focus it.
