Hi all, Fairly new to collecting coins. Myself and siblings have inherited my father's collection of coins, and I am researching the best way to find the value of them all so that I can buy out the others share. I am facinated with the whole thing and would like to think that I could soak up some of the knowledge from this forum. Cheers Grant (ttkoo) The Ox moves slowly, but the Earth is patient.

This forum is dripping in knowledge, and occasionally wisdom too. Feel free to post full, large and sharp images of the coins you find most interesting.

A big ttkoo, from Perth. If you're near Adelaide, drop in to The Purple Penny coin store, Mark and Kathryn will be able to advise you.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your search for knowledge. It is enjoyable once you catch the bug. Hope you have a great relationship with your siblings so they will take your word for the values. It's fun but difficult to assess value. The safer thing might be to pay for a valuation by a third party and then buy them out so there are no hard feelings. Coins ("money") can mess with the best of relationships when an acquaintance makes a "helpful" comment, in passing, about some video they saw that put some high value on a coin. Thanks ijn44...will post once I figure out how to work the macro on my camera . The USB microscope is 50x and hard to get a good shot on a coin. Thanks for the welcome John1, Dorado and jbuck ! Going to travel up to their shop on Thursday for a bit of a yack. I'm having a chat with Purple Penny here this week coming and which ever way we go, sale or auction there will be a valuation pre-sale and that will guide me whether I will buy out all by sale or bid on some at auction. There's a fair few coins to consider, some near complete pre-decimal collections, over 400 error/varieties of various merit etc etc. Cheers Grant (ttkoo)
