If I don't make any sense.
Please ask, (what in the world do I mean?

I have 16 different 2021D DDR's. Some with only 1 vertical affected at the top. Some with up to 5 affected. They have different markers on the shield as with or without a crack. There's a few different looking cracks that are in different locations. Some with or without a chip on the crack.
Does that mean different dies?

Thank you John. I thought about die wear.

I tried to explain without pictures but ( lol ) I was caring on and got lost

Here's two coins for example I think is easiest to explain what I mean.
There's no cracks or chips on top of the shield.( No markers )
Vertical 11. Vertical 9 & 11 affected.

There's other coins with different looking doubling at tops of verticals with diff looking and locations of cracks and chips. I'm trying to figure out if I can find some different stages.

Have your checked to see if the die was polished or not? If a die is over polished, it can alter sub devices. It could remove the sub devices that could affect that area. Try finding a fresher die state and make images to see if they are larger or smaller than a normal example. This one would probably require full images of the width of the die on the devices above that area to see if the size of the devices are normal? Crop the images to the outside edges of the die on the two examples, then place them side by side to see the one set looks larger and the other one smaller devices. (Measuring the outside edges of the devices will probably reduce them to the same size. But the fixed points on the outside edge of the die, doesn't change. The area where the die ends and the rim starts will will show the widths of the dies) If this affected area is alter by polishing, then it could make these appear on the coins by the reduction of the sub devices. I'm just not convinced that this could be a DDR. Nothing is actually doubled. The devices that are raised are not showing a spread are they?
Tried this it didn't work.

Thanks coop. I can sorta picture of what you did. I couldn't even try that.
I also wondered if these were doubled.
I think if Wexler and VarietyVista goes with it, I'll ride along.

I can maybe see vertical 11 being polished down (but) then vertical 9 shows up doubled with 11 (?).
Here's two different looking cracks with only vertical 9 affected. The doubling is pretty thin which these are the thinnest of all the coins affected.

Out of the 16 coins, I have 12 different looking cracks.
14 of the 16 coins has vertical 9 affected.

Sorry everyone for this looking like but I can't figure it out myself.
