Hello again, I found what I am guessing is a fairly large Cud on the reverse of this penny. On the N in the word One. Just wanted to get your opinions, and if it is a Cud. It looks pretty cool to my innocent eyes!!! lol I haven't closely examined the rest of the coin. Thank you!

Ok, great. That gives me a direction to study in. I'm not sure if Cuds are more along the rims or not. I had a tiny one on my first coin here. But thanks for the info!! So helpful!

Cuds are ONLY attached to the rim.

Ok, yea I thought I had read that. I have a tiny one on my other penny. Thanks for confirming for me! I still know nothing but I am learning a lot! :)

I don't think it's a plating blister because there appears to be a die crack that continues down the "N" to the rim.

Depending on the size, the die chip on the top of the "N" might be an interior die break but like CFrog said it doesn't touch the rim so it's not a Cud.

Oh! Now I see the crack, thank you! Awesome! So, this is still considered Die Deterioration? As are the cracks I'm finding? And the N chip is pretty large and extends to the far right stroke, probably runs up to the crack you spotted. I have no idea how to define an interior die break. But I'm trying to catch up. Thank you! I ordered the Red Book on coins, but now I need one to help me with vocab and die issues and actual errors. Cheers!

You're welcome.

This might help with terminology.
