What you have is glare doubling. Very common issue with new, ultra shiny coins. Try using a defused lighting source.

Thanks. Yes it's glare doubling. I used my phone magnifier to see that it was. Can someone recommend a YouTube person for learning more about coin minting and errors? Also coin making from start to finish. I would like to watch the process so I can understand what cause the error.

This is a 1997 penny. It appears it was soaked in something to alter the size. I put a penny next to it. You can see it's oval shaped and larger. Any ideas what would cause this. I hope I'm aloud to add another coin on the post. Sorry if I'm not.

First, one coin per thread, please. Second, we aren't UTubers here. Third, realise not all coins are error coins. Fourth, there is not anything you can soak a coin in to alter its size other than acid, maybe, Fifth, best advise I can give you is this: invest in a couple of boxes of coins from the bank and look for anything unusual and ask us about them... but stay away from that UTube.

Is there a thread for chatting on here then. Posting in this forum is hard to hold a conversation with someone. I have questions that would be easier to chat with folks get to know them and figure somethings out.

Quote: Yes it's glare doubling. This is not an error. The poster is simply stating that you are seeing glare from the coin being very reflective giving the illusion that there is doubling when there is in actuality not any doubling.

Quote: Is there a thread for chatting on here then. yes there is, in the general area, once you get enough post points under your belt. That being said, we like to chat in all our threads (usually about the coin being presented) So! If you were to only post one coin per topic, we can have a nice conversation about your coins without confusion as to which one was being referred to. As to your Dime up above - the glare and reflection of the lighting off of the smooth polished field (the flat part of the coin) is causing the appearance of doubling.
