Besides the overall wear, the scuff marks, particularly on the obverse on the king's cheek and in the field in front of his face, preclude this from being a coin that collectors would pay much money for, sorry.

Very common date with some 12 million minted. Condition is Fine to goodFine which catalogues it at $9 in my 2009 McDonald, but who would pay that? I agree a buck seems a good value.

Yeah okay, thanks for the information. I did assume the condition was a bit average, however I'm very new to the universe of coin collection, appreciate your time.

Don't let our comments put you off. You have a 100 year coin, a fine way to start coin collecting, a rewarding and fun hobby.
Think of the history that coin has had and the stories it could tell!

I'm definitely not put off by the comments. I just realised that under the "penny lettering" the symbol seems to be partly gone on the left, is that a normal occurrence? I've got a few coins to sort through and it is an enjoyable task tbh.

Hi cleaves and The missing part of the bottom scroll is most likely a die fill error caused when a foreign substance, usually grease, covers part of the die's surface and results in that area of the coin to not strike correctly. No it's not normal but in my opinion it doesn't really add any extra value to a coin unless maybe you are a collector of error coins.
