I'd say VG, possibly a details coin (1880-S). No numismatic value, just a bullion piece.

Actually, there is a San Francisco S mintmark and yeah, it is in the VG-8 to 10 range to me. You could try vamworld.com to see if it is one of the specialty vams.
It has a large S mintmark by the way, so that should narrow down the possible VAM number. The retail according to PCGS coinfacts is 37.00 for a VG, but expect about half that or so.

The mintmark is an S, and it is located underneated the wreath on the reverse. I'd put a value of $20-$25 for this coin. Current silver melt value is $19.

@dqu, I fixed the title of your thread to reflect the S mintmark. It is on the reverse between the D and O of DOLLAR.
