Came across this '83 Lincoln in circulation today, but a couple things caught my eye! Those lil notches at the tops of T's and E's, are they caused by Die Deterioration? Also looked like something going on with the L, the bowtie, and under his eye, but that could all be damage I guess? Wanted to see what anyone else thinks

In my opinion I don't see it. I get alot of Machine Doubling in coins. One day I will get a true DDO. Good luck though I hope it turns out it is.

If you are able to spot the Machine Doubling, then when you do find a real doubled die, it will leap out at you and make its presence known. You won't even have to ask if it is a doubled die, you will know without doubt. Keep looking. you will find one. Also check the listing for the 1980's DDO's. The hub doubling tends to be seen on the date on the last two digits:

Note the outside edges of the last two digits:

Keep in mind other years may also be affected on the '8' on them as well.

I mean how long did it take to find one with other members, I'd love to know!?! I feel like my eyes are crossing from all the hours looking through some type of magnifying device! Guess maybe a better source of magnification might help, but man its hard to see what they're talking about on some of the sites, even with pics, when looking up listings for certain years! Is there somewhere that you can go that would give you an example of a what the perfect image of a coin looks like? Or maybe gives you a side by side comparison or normal coins vs DD's?

And @coop, where do you get all your pics, as shown above, or rather is there a site I can reach that has all those handy images, or did you make em yourself?
