Good afternoon, roll hunting and found this 1 Cent pretty intriguing. I am not sure what is going on with the VDB on this coin, it looks to be very tall for a regular VDB. I appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

Actually the VDB is incuse on the coin. So when Machine Doubling happens, it can affect those incuse devices. (They are raised on the die, thus the slightest MD can affect the strike on these incuse devices. Die wear could make these devices wear down and get smaller in size. If the die was polished, it can even remove these raised devices on the die. So it is from a normal die, with Machine Doubling altering before/after/during the strike. It just depends on the play in the machine. A doubled die is caused by hub doubling on the die. Machine Doubling doesn't create doubled dies. Die wear doesn't create doubled dies. A doubled die, comes from a die with hub doubling on that die.
