Bank Coin Roll Hunt, I found this today. it's the oldest Canada small cent I have found and there is a Die Crack running from the rim under the P of IMP to the bust of King George. Found quite a few Canadian Pennies but this is the first die crack I found on one. As usual Comments are welcome. Regards!

Is that "crack" raised or recessed?

Good one also might be a die clash but hard to see with old eyes (ear)

okiecoiner It appears like the base is split, which shows a recessed crack. But if you look closely, there is a raised line to the right of the crack under the P so your guess is as good as mine. Regards!

It looks to me like a split planchet. The "raised" part is the metal flowed into the crack when it was struck. Neat coin!

what we see it is incuse, and was before strike. To say was a split planchet we have to observe for markers on the side of the coin. Seem to be or an early planchet crack. Those early crack planchet come out after years due to the metal oldness or age of the material (how you want to say) and circulation.
