From the magnified photos, I can't tell what's what. The coin has been heavily cleaned. Maybe they used something caustic. There's a PM stain between the 1 & 9 and the 5 looks like the tip had some dammage. It almost looks like a R/P, but the tip is the only place that it shows. It's not really a split serif.

Not sure what you're seeing either.

Not exactly sure what caused it but it is damage of some sort. It didn't look like that when it was struck at the mint.

The 5 looks like a doubled die to me. Nice split serif and separation. Doubling also visible on the other digits.

I'm with Tanman2001 on this one, the split serifs on the 5 stick out like a sore thumb.
However, I have been coming across a few master die doubling examples from that era and it very well could be on every 1958 dollar so next step would be to look at a few more before it can be 100% confirmed to be a doubled die reverse.
If you find the same split serifs on the date of other 1958 dollars, then it is likely master die doubling, which would be common.
If you find no split serifs on the date of other 1958 dollars, then this example could very well be one of few, which would make it not common.

Safe to say you have not just one, but TWO 1958 Doubled Die Reverse examples! I was not aware of any doubled die examples for the 1958 silver dollar until now, awesome catch.

IMO is no doubling here. I agree that could be some, but not what I see on your coin. If we try to see doubling on all circulated and hit coins, we will imagine been. I agree with OKI and CFrog.

I see what you see and understand, but is very substile.. I think IMO SPP or COOP (is more on US varieties) can help you with this. sorry for my part now. If I can help more, the pleasurer will be mine.

so is there any estimate on the value or rarity? I know canadian double dies are not very sought after.
