I was wondering if someone could give me a little input on this penny. I found it in a roll of pennies that had mostly 1960-1969 pennies in it. This one appears silver in color. It is not magnetic. I weighed it beside a copper penny and it appears close in weight but my scale is not as accurate as I need for this. I am wondering if it is plated or is there another explanation? Thanks for any input!

it is a plated cent, possibly a high school experiment.
We have been seeing a few of these lately.

See the four non-silver colored areas at equal distances around the rim, and also all the same size? This was most likely from the jewelry clasps holding the coin in some sort of setting (similar to how a gemstone is held). Also, nickel plating cents was common in the past for making jewelry. Yours no doubt is an example.
