1965 Silver Colored Penny - Coin Community Forum

WalkerMo New Member United States 37 Posts	Posted 04/07/2022 8:31 pm I was wondering if someone could give me a little input on this penny. I found it in a roll of pennies that had mostly 1960-1969 pennies in it. This one appears silver in color. It is not magnetic. I weighed it beside a copper penny and it appears close in weight but my scale is not as accurate as I need for this. I am wondering if it is plated or is there another explanation? This was most likely from the jewelry clasps holding the coin in some sort of setting (similar to how a gemstone is held). Also, nickel plating cents was common in the past for making jewelry.
