I have two General Morales pesos which I put aside years back as suspect. They are overweight (16.11 and 16.05gm) and show evidence of bluish-green in surface scratches. The inscriptions on the edges of the two, while they appear to be in the same font are not the same way up. Is it possible that they are genuine coins?

@gen, first welcome to CCF. Second, can you please measure the specific gravity of both pieces for us? Thx.

Many thanks the welcome and for the prompt responses. The coins pass the tissue test.
Very different results from my hamfisted specific gravity tests.
The heavier of the two coins (recognisable by a brown mark between the S and O of Peso)gave 10.144 and the other 8.146
Can't be right but what it does suggest is that the coins do not have the same composition. Will try again later with an improved suspension method.
Thanks again.
