How bad will the lack of detail and surfaces hurt the grade here. Overall a very clean coin just lacking any wow factor. Grade? Opinions?

Wonder what it looks like out of the 2x2? I could see MS65+.

Where you find those is mystery for me. But welcome in the Quarters Club. Lower Reverse week feathers, the rest nothing to say so 66 to 67. compare with this 67:

Nice! Looking and comparing yours has the strike going for it. Much stronger on the obverse and better detail on the reverse. I got it on an ebay auction. I'll reveal the price on Sunday night.

Do not tell me about ebay auction because is something strange. I bet 10 seconds before finish and I do not have, and it is not the first time, I do not believe them. In others auctions I can go no problems 10 or 5 seconds before if I am outbid, but some on ebay no. Mystery.

Other thing. Also in 65 you have a coin which is in the first 3000 coins all know from 41 mill. so is not bad. Hope the price was good, and think: you discuss in US for about 100K collectors.

Thanx for all the feedback. I was tentative with this one from the online photos. The lack of detail on the feathers and hair had me worried it would be mid choice. I was pleasantly surprised when I got it. Only small marks in the neck and a dimple on the forehead. The matte finish on the coin really doesn't make the coin boom with shiny luster.

I'm at an interesting juncture now with these early Washingtons. I've had a bit of luck with nice prices in weakly struck clean coins but they have no wow factor. I really don't think they will grade ms66. But the ms66 coins I seen with better luster and stronger strikes tend to have more destructing marks. Not sure which way to proceed yet. The latter are more expensive.

I think if I can find more like this for the price I will sacrifice that ms66 possibly for the cleaner coins. Not that I'm grading them but the overall responses to this type of coin are that they are higher grade compared to ms66 coins I have posted.

Picked this one up for $45

Edit- I know collect what you like, blah blah. I am. I like finding coins that are marketable for undervalued prices, not that I'm selling but if I upgrade I want that option.

Please feel free to give me your thoughts on all of this!
Thank you all again! I'll definitely need more input as the remaining Washingtons I need are going to start getting progressively more expensive.

you may be correct that it may not make 66. the strike might hold it back but then again if the strike was there could it pull a 66+ or even 67? in any case you have a nice clean coin with good eye appeal and well preserved surfaces. I think the early washingtons in 65 or better are a good value and are a good bet for appreciation at this time and if you can get them at 1/2 retail value you scored.
