1963 Nickel Rim Error? - Coin Community Forum

I noticed this odd rim the other day, I believe the person who told me to post here was thinking it was some sort of damaged collar. Anyone here have any idea? Not magnetic, won't open from bouncing around in a plastic cup, weights 5.07 grams. Report this Post to the Staff

To me it looks like something smaller was squeezed on the outside center edge of the coin. Altering is by compressing slightly the center of the edge of the coin post strike.
