It appears that there is a slanted D under the D mint mark but I could be completely wrong, thoughts?

Please do not use screen shots, they are too pixilated.
Also if you cropped them, the mm would appear larger.

1. If the area you are looking at is to the right of the mintmark, that will be die wear.
2. Above the mintmark it is not raised like a punch affected die would show. (Also looks more like a shadow)
3. See the lines around the mintmark, that is die flow. So if it is lower than die flow, it would not be a mintmark punch just die flow.
