I have all of the Statehood Quarters and most of the ATB Quarters in 99.9% silver (allegedly)

I bought them from second-hand sellers via ebay, Amazon, etc

This week I will receive my CAPS binder and pages and begin the process of moving them from my Dansco Albums to airtites for the CAPS pages

As I do that, I would like to test them, just to have the peace of mind that they are silver

I know they all have silver edges, and they came in the US Mint cases, some with COAs and others without them, but does that mean unequivocally that they are silver?

Is there an inexpensive, non-destructive silver tester available?

I have watched vids for the Silver Slides and tissue tests that give false positives

Isn't there is a simple electronic tester for silver like the one that pawn shops use for diamonds?

How about specific gravity? That should tell you whether you have silver or silver-plated clad. All you need is a good scale.

Simply take a look at the coin's details, genuine mint products have crisp lettering, uniform strike, and consistent detail. Just compare it with pics online. If the lettering is mushy and the fields are uneven, then you know that it is a counterfeit.

I wouldn't go much further than weighing the coin and sliding a small magnet across the surface of the coin/plastic capsule.

A more destructive way but one of the best is to flick it into the air. It's a stylish ping test, just don't drop them on the ground.

There are hardly any decent fakes of these, so if it looks good it probably is good.

I can't imagine that it is profitable to make a fake coin, but my main concern is silver plating a clad coin

I'm not sure if that is even a thing

I use a Pocket Pinger to test my silver eagles and junk/cull silver dollars. Works great. You can watch YouTube videos about the Pocket Pinger. I don't know if this would damage a collectable coin or not but it works for silver stacking. My LCS has a tester and if not busy will test a few coins for free.
