From the photo supplied, it looks like your CENT has taken a hit damaging the ear.
Clearer photos might show otherwise.

Note the marks on the mintmark/rim and ear. They are all in the same direction. So they all probably happened with a glancing blow to the coin. The tallest devices on a coin, gets the most hits. PSD.
