It has just taken a hit flattening the bottom of the 9.
If it was a DD, it would affect more than one small area.

Agree with the flattening hit on the 9. Copper is a relatively soft metal; thus, it can take on interesting shapes/forms when hit, pressure applied, etc.

Or it could be a case of a partial fill of grease in that area. A partial fill will make the devices wider looking, but not exceeding the base of the devices. (Grease fills the tops of devices first. If they die is completely full then the device will not show at all.
