Of the major bullion coins like:
Maple Leafs American Silver Eagle Krugerands American Gold Eagle Libertards Koalas
plus others.
Are there ones you prefer to collect/stack? Are there any you won't collect? Or they are just bullion and you don't worry about who mints it?

Not a fan of ASEs really - at least not at the premiums for them.
Brittanias - love them!
Maple Leafs - like them, but the milk spot issue keeps me from buying them
Koalas - don't have any but they are nice
Kookaburras - love them
Krugs - like them, but don't have any
Libertads - like them, but don't have any

I have around 1,500 ASE's, give or take, but the premiums have gotten so high I mostly switched to 90%

I have 6 platinum Maple Leafs. They are the only bullion coins that I have.

I have some of all that you listed. I have a simple date set of all the ASE's and Libertads. They would be my favorite.

But don't have krugerands or libertads or koalas. My LCS only has ASE, Maple Leaf and philharmonics. Sometimes he gets libertards but rarely gets koalas and the pandas he sells at a high premium. I was tempted on getting a sample of each but may pass on the pandas due to the high premium.

I been starting to buy 1/10 and 1/4 oz world gold monthly, but more 1/4 oz, because the premium for 1/10 is too high. No Libertads, premium are outrageous. @jaxenro, That's a heavy stack you got there, 3 monster boxes?

Quote: That's a heavy stack you got there, 3 monster boxes? About but I mostly bought them as rolls. Inflation hedge. I was aiming for 100 rolls when premiums started climbing I switched to 90%. $4 per coin I can see but $14 is insane The premium on 90% is about 20 to 25% but for ASE around 50% right now

Prefer to stack American Gold Eagles and Krugerrands, in addition to 19th Century 20 Franc coins (that have low premiums for the fractional amount of gold the contain, i.e. 0.1867 ounce).

Huge fan of the 20 Franc coins. So much history and diversity of design across so many countries and years while being all a known weight. I'm not worried decreasing the value by handling them which makes them really satisfying to hold, stack, click together etc. Just wish they were easier to find and buy. Dealers online and shops I frequent just don't stock them at all (or are usually out of stock recently).

Not major bullion coins but I have bought a small number silver proof NCLT coins at below ASW spot. in recent years.
In lots of cases they have turned out to be very poor investments for their original purchasers.

I have gold Buffalos ,Pandas ,Maple Leaf 's, pre 33 US , older Europe , Canadian gold hoard and Queens beasts gold except for the Unicorn. I like them all but would like to get some Mexican gold as well.In silver some maple leafs but mainly old pour silver bars (Homestake 10 ounce my favorite ). Like to get first issues If I can in a series because they can sometimes get extra value later on like the first three queens beasts.

I noticed yesterday that the lowest premium half ounce gold content pieces are Canadian $100 (1976-86) and American medals (1980-1984). Both are struck as coin gold and not .999 purity, but the premium over melt is only 7% and comparable to full ounce rounds. Does anyone here collect these pieces?
