This one came in today and I believe it to be authentic
Sounds like silver on the ping test.
Non magnetic.
37.87 MM
27.1 to 27.2 Grams

It still has luster around the eagle in the breast feathers and around the devices
It does not have have cleaning hairlines under 10x loop though I imagine its been dipped but looks like it may straight grade being A Trade dollar . Looks market acceptable to me but I am on the fence still learning these.
Reverse strike is weak near the eagles foot.
May take it in to my local coin shop to see if they have a Sigma tester for peace of mind. But all the other tests I did have it looking good to me.
Coin is not quite as bright as the photos appear.
The rims look pretty good. Under the date there appears to be a small hit but that is mostly a shadow I think as it looks fine in hand . Maybe a minor bump.
I think its about VF-30/35 on the edge of details but being A Trade dollar may be ok.
Coin looks decent in hand.

It may be it looks on the edge to me. You can see the luster in the pics around the eagle and olive leaves.
Being A Trade dollar it may get a pass. Being Authentic is the biggest thing to me with this one though.

I am with Frog VF Details Cleaned. The coin surface is not original and I agree with you that the coin has been dipped.

I would disagree with it not being a collectable grade . Still a tough coin to find.

VF-35 Details Cleaned, definitely looks genuine

Try using different background colors to make the coin color seem natural. A white background or a light gray should make a big difference.

With A lighter background makes it easier to see the luster around Lady Liberty , The Eagle and some of the devices .
Going to agree with a old cleaning I think but will be a good place holder until I can find or afford A Higher grade.

you latest photos are probably closer to what the coin actually looks like. she has been banged around a lot. I'm going with VF35 details (cleaned) also.

Panzaldi I think it looks closer as well. You can make out the luster still and the overall color is closer.
Id say she was a pocket piece for awhile maybe. The I-Phone seems to over exaggerate the marks and nicks some though they are all there . Most do not look so noticeable in hand.

Paid $300.00 for it . Cheapest on the bay and nicer than anything south of 500.00 so think it is worth the purchase price

That was my reaction, too, when I saw the new photos. I'm not sure this was cleaned. Carrying it as a pocket piece can cause some of the same effects, since it would be handled a lot.

It looks genuine, and VF-ish to me. I agree on details, but would assign that to a 95 code (scratches) rather than a 92 code (cleaning).

@JK, please don't take this the wrong way. I just want to give you my frank thoughts. I think you can expect to purchase a nice original XF example of a 1874 TD for $300. My biggest issue is not with the cleaning, and I think this rates in the VF details cleaned range like others in this thread. The biggest issue that I see is the low eye appeal of this coin. I think that this is a coin that few others would want in this condition with this eye appeal at $300. If this was mine and I have a return privilege, I would send it back and seek one with better eye appeal. Just my 2 cents and if you like it, none of this matters - each one of us buys what we like.
