It's a Magician's coin. Please show us the other side and a close-up of the rims on both sides.

Thanks for the edge image. It is very clear that it was split and 2 had were glued together, badly, I may add.

Chances are if it was altered the weight will be off. (either more or less than normal)
Different types of Magician's coin alterations:
Sanded two coins:
1924-S-With-A-Heads-On-Both-Sides
1924-S-With-A-Heads-On-Both-Sides
1924-S-With-A-Heads-On-Both-Sides
1924-S-With-A-Heads-On-Both-Sides
1924-S-With-A-Heads-On-Both-Sides

Altered with a lathe:
1924-S-With-A-Heads-On-Both-Sides
1924-S-With-A-Heads-On-Both-Sides
1924-S-With-A-Heads-On-Both-Sides
1924-S-With-A-Heads-On-Both-Sides
Note how there was a second coin altered to fit into the other coin?
1924-S-With-A-Heads-On-Both-Sides
Often seen as a double rim on one side of the coin.
1924-S-With-A-Heads-On-Both-Sides
1924-S-With-A-Heads-On-Both-Sides
Why on this one? (maybe an attempt to create a mint error?)
