I'm curious about this mint mark and what looks like doubling on the N in IN. Any opinions are appreciated and thank you in advance for your expertise.

The doubling on the IN appears to be Strike Doubling or post mint damage, and I don't see anything that looks like a rpm to me, most likely damage again to the mintmark. Check out varietyvista.com for things rpm; they did a good job on that website.

This looks like damage to me and I agree varietyvista is a good site to look for RPM. They don't list any for the 1976-D cents though:

Incuse areas on the devices are most often coin contact from another coin. If it were a RPM, the size of the mintmark would be enlarged, not reduced like Machine Doubling does. It removes the contour from the affected area. Just a damaged coin when this happens.
