Helloooo again... I happened upon this 1982 penny that looks like a possible clipped plantchet. But I would like to hear what others say. Thank you.

Not a clipped planchet. My guess is PMD due to the exposed core but lack of displaced metal and how uniform it is makes me second guess. Others will hopefully chime in, a shot of the rim of the area in question might show something I'm not seeing but I'm going with PMD.

Could it just be a pocket of exposed zinc that has oxidized away leaving the now circular void?

Note on the last two images. Note the edge took a hit and it exploded the rim area. Cause and affect on the coin. With the zinc exposed, they rot begins, which the images show that well. Great presentation.
