I read in a thread a while ago about the possibility of Teddy Roosevelt being on the 2010 park quarters, and I was wondering if anyone has an update whether or not this will happen.

Thanks a lot,

Richard

I think that was more of a "Hey....you know what would be a cool idea?" sort of thing. Teddy is not going to be on the 2010 park quarters but since Teddy was a big nautre entusiast and since he did create the national parks system, a member here suggested that it would be neat to put his portrait on the quarters. Its not actually being discussed by congress or the mint or anything like that.

They are not even going to put him on the national park named after him?

I heard that after the National Parks the design of the quarter will be that of the Kansas quarter with the buffalo. Can anyone vouche for this?

False- the National Park series is scheduled to run for 11 years with a provision that would allow the program to be extended another 11 years at the discretion of the Secretary of Treasury. The obverse will be the same as the State Quarter series. Since the run is so long, there are no set plans for a quarter design at the conclusion of the National Park series. They will probably do another series of something...

Edit: I have found mention of depicting Washington crossing the Delaware prior to the Battle of Trenton. Whether that means the New Jersey quarter design or another rendition, I do not know.

Lord All Mighty !......22 MORE YEARS OF NEW QUARTER DESIGNS ?...

We've just had 10 years of the State Qtrs........I'm really going to think long and hard as to whether or not I'll want anything to do with the "Parks Qtrs.".....at least as far as doing the P & D circulated folders.
Perhaps just to continue to get the Proof & Silver Proofs would be enough for me this time !...

OH who am I kidding.....there's a four year old in my life that will find that fun !........I guess it'll NEVER end !!....

But does anyone really think that the "Parks Quarters" will attract the same amount of attention as the "State Qtrs." did ?.....I don't.
Perhaps it will "keep" some of those new collectors around though. I know the status of the economy won't help any, however !

Do you think that a (any) regular design will ever return?

Not as long as they're making money hand over fist by doing "new designs" of everything !..........only a bad economy and no sales would put a stop to it.....and THAT might not even work !

I hope not! I enjoy knowing that my 1932-1998 Washington quarter Album is complete!

.....good point !....

But a "semi-permanent" redesign (say...30 year run) of the Washington Qtr. with the redesign being a slight change of Washington's portrait, would be SWEET !.....then your album would STILL be complete !..(maybe...kinda sorta)....let's be gone with the State Qtrs.. The Territory Qtrs, and the 22 future years of Park Qtrs. !.....
Intending the the "slight redesign" idea would classify for you as a "new" design still.
But....sometimes "wishin' hard" only results in a headache ! I guess the "redesign" that "I'm" talking about, would only likely happen when me and JB are in our early 60's !....

No, the State Quarters attracted so much attention and interest because it was the first change in the quarter in the living memory of most of the US population. Even most people who were Great Grandparents at the time the State Quarters came out had never seen anything except the Washington and squashed eagle reverse, but when the National Parks quarters come out we will have almost an entire generation whose only experience is that the design of the quarter is EXPECTED to change every year. So a new series of reverse designs for the quarter Ho hum, yes yes I've seen it before, wake me when something new happens.
